A proud member of the power pop underground bred by the growth of the Internet, Atlanta-based singer/songwriter Kenny Howes released several D.I.Y. pop records before going the more traditional route of forming a band, the Yeah, and signing to a proper record label.
Born in 1970 in the suburb of Mulberry, FL, Howes bounced through a variety of high school and college bands in the late '80s and early '90s. While temporarily based in Tallahassee, Howes recorded and self-released two solo cassettes, Nothing Wrong With That in 1993 and In Between in 1994. Although these tapes were one-man-band affairs (with the exception of drummer Kelly Shane), Howes formed a band, the Curious Yellow, with Shane, guitarist Bob Anthony, and bassist Ben Pringle (later replaced by Chuck Vaughan), which toured the southeast while Howes continued his solo studio career.
