LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose one-tenth of a cent today to $4.357, one day after increasing by four-tenths of a cent. Â
The average price is a half-cent more than one week ago, 7.2 cents higher than one month ago and $1.195 greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has changed by two- tenths of a cent or less six of the past seven days. Â
The average price has risen $1.125 since the start of the year to its highest amount since Oct. 25, 2012, because of a sharp increase in the oil price and higher demand stemming from more people driving to work, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager. Â
The Orange County average price rose four-tenths of a cent to $4.321, one day after remaining unchanged. It is six-tenths of a cent more than one week ago, 8.2 cents higher than one month ago and $1.17 greater than one year ago. It has risen $1.113 since the start of the year to its highest amount since Oct. 25, 2012. Â
